Greatest Fan :)

Tomorrow is the official first day of Spring. For us, this means walking to town, shorts, and... planting our Heirloom gardens!!! We are planting heirloom vegetables as a part of the Community Garden project. This project is being put on by Beekman 1802 and Williams-Sonoma.

Recently, Planet Green announced that, along with Williams-Sonoma, they will be randomly selecting a winner to visit the Beekman farm during the Garden Festival. The grand prize will go to the winner and one guest. Round trip coach air fair to Albany, NY; room for 3 days/2 nights; $500 spending money; and rental car costs are all included. The winners will attend the festival and have the opportunity to meet the Boys! To enter go here. Good luck to all entries and don't forget to watch the premier of season 2 on March 22 at 10 pm on Planet Green!!

Remember The Name!

Before I begin the blog, I would like to apologize for it being a day late. I had some homework to do and did not have time to write the blog.

Now, we would like to tell you NOT to forget about the NewNowNext Awards! Voting is still going, it closes March 4th. The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, were nominated for “Most Addictive Reality Star.”

If you don’t know who they are, you can find out about them at Planet Green’s website and Beekman 1802. You can tweet for the boys using #RealityBoys or vote on the page. Another one you should vote for is TJ Kelly using #IndulgeTJ.

TJ was nominated for “Best New Indulgence” and he’s got some strong competition. You can find out about TJ and the show he’s on, The A-List: New York, at Logo TV. TJ made a great video about his award nomination that you can watch here.

Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?

Hey everyone, I'm taking the same route that Gela did on Saturday.  In case anyone was interested in knowing more about the bloggers, this is the place to get the low down.

This kid was born and raised in a small town, the same town that Gela grew up in.  We met in the third grade and have been friends ever since.  In school I wasn't much of a sports kid or an after school activities kid--I liked getting good grades and being creative.  That's why I joined yearbook in my senior year and graduated in the top 10 of my class.  Random thought-- I love animals, like my American Bulldog/Pitbull mix Charlie!  I have a lot of critters ranging from horses to rabbits.

For fun, I shoot and edit "movies" with my friends.  They really aren't movies with plots, just like clips shows, music videos, and vlogs.  I also dabble and experiment with Photoshop.  I am also very big into technology.  I can't live without my Blackberry, camera, Facebook, or Skype.  And as we've mentioned before, Gela and I spend much of our free time promoting The Fabulous Beekman Boys.  A career in the entertainment world is definitely in my future--which is why I am spending my time studying in the field of mass communication.

iTunes is a must have when you're a college kid.  A random mix of music is even better, like my library including artists like Eminem, The Infamous Stringdusters, Green Day, Mumford & Sons, The Script, Katy Perry, Linkin Park and yes even the Glee cast.  A ridiculous DVD collection is also important, both movies and television shows:  The Hangover, Ugly Betty, The Office, Grey's Anatomy, The Last Song, The Big Bang Theory, The A-Team, and The Replacements.

Call me old fashioned, but I think that the Kindle is a dumb invention.  And I love technology.  Unfortunately, I also love books.  Stephen King dominates my book shelf, followed closely by Nicholas Sparks.  I have been captivated by many autobiographies, including The Bucolic Plague (Josh Kilmer-Purcell) and Lucky Man (Michael J. Fox)

Okay...if anyone is still reading, Gela and I promise REAL blogs about IMPORTANT things in the upcoming weeks.  Our last few blogs have been shallow and very oriented around pop culture, but can you blame us?  It is awards season after all....

For The First Time....

2010 was a huge year for these two college kids.  The year started pretty slow, until June rolled around and brought The Fabulous Beekman Boys into our lives.  We would love to give an entire story about them, but we want you to check them out on your own at their website, Beekman1802.  While watching their lives pass by on our TV screens, we came to the conclusion that we HAD to meet them--which worked out wonderfully because they only live an hour away and were hosting the second annual Harvest Festival.  Seeing them in person was unbelievable, we were actually speechless--which NEVER happens.  It was refreshing to see that these guys are real ... nothing is played up for the cameras.  You just want to "put Brent in your pocket" and Josh is just "full of sass" ;)  After a search of Facebook, we found that there was NO fan page for the Beekman Boys fans (other than their official page)  That was when Beek Geeks was born--with the help of the talented Anthony.  At the time we had no idea that the popularity of Beek Geeks would grow to become such a big part of the Beekman World and make us part of the Sharon Springs community.  We are now frequent visitors to Sharon Springs, making sure to visit Doug & Garth at the American Hotel for brunch.  We even got invited to participate in the first annual Victorian Celebration.

Through The Boys and our fan page we were introduced to a variety of talented and interesting people--from coast to coast.  But those stories can wait...

For 2011 we decided that part of our New Year's Resolution would be to bring attention to people, places, events, etc that deserve more recognition than they are currently receiving.  And knowing us there will also be the occasional post about more popular subjects.
