So, this year has basically flown by and towards the middle Gela and I got a bit sidetracked .... Sorry!!
We've still been busy with Beek Geeks and everything Beekman 1802 related. Speaking of which, congratulations to Brent and Josh, who got engaged on December 16th. We've also been busy with school. Cannot believe this semester is already over! And we met a new friend, a super talented guy named John, who we will feature in another post.
I hope you all had a very happy holiday, whether it be Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, whatever! I myself had a very great Christmas . I'm actually typing this on my new iPod Touch <3
I also got some DVDs, like Horrible Bosses and my all time favorite tearjerker, Where The Red Fern Grows. My grandparents also got me a new peacoat. I got a second copy of the Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook! And more clothes. My aunt and uncle are visiting for New Year's, so I'll probably get some movies and books from them. We spent Christmas dinner with my grandparents and earlier in the day I Skyped with one of my best friends, Mikey :) That was the one thing I really wanted, Mikey home for the holidays, but we just couldn't make it work, so maybe next year.
I hope that we can stay up-to- date with the blog in 2012, maybe we'll do fewer posts throughout the month. We'll figure something out! Have a wonderful last few days of 2011! See you next year.

ET
First of all, Gela would like to issue an apology for not blogging on Saturday--but it was a hectic day for her.
I am currently enjoying some delicious Chobani strawberry banana yogurt.
This yogurt is epic because it is made in our hometown, I live about 5 minutes from the Agro-Farma plant and Gela lives about 30 seconds away from it. I wish I could give you more details about the Greek style yogurt, but I am not an expert in that field. Their website is completely helpful though.
This week has been a very film oriented week so far. We watched the original Arthur, because of lover of all things entertainment friend, Mikey, suggested it. We definitely suggest everyone sees THIS version of the movie before seeing the remake. It's a charming tale, that has some fun twists and turns. Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli portrayed such lovable characters. We also went out (shocking!!) and saw Paul. There are no words to describe how much we LOVED it! We left with our minds blown. It was shocking--so original with fun movie tie-ins for nerds. Check out the trailer:

Oh yea....some final words about Paul--Bill Hader (best known from SNL) was absolutely gorgeous!
Thursday is the Grey's Anatomy Music Event! Any excited people out there, besides me?! The first full song, Chasing Cars performed by Sara Ramirez, Kevin McKidd, and Chandra Wilson, is so beautifully done. I cannot wait to see how the rest of the cast does.

It Gets Better
Besides it being our three month friend-iversary with Mikey, I thought there would be nothing to blog about today. I also realized that most of our posts lately have covered issues of "pop culture" which is something that we said we'd only occasionally do. We are going to get back into our roots and find things that NEED coverage because they aren't getting the coverage they deserve. Then I saw this post on Yahoo! News this morning about a blog called "Born This Way" --it was like a gift from heaven. This blog is "a photo/essay project for gay adults to submit childhood pictures and stories, reflecting memories & early beginnings of their innate LGBTQ selves". To me this is a thing of beauty, because it proves that being gay is not a choice--looking at these young children can inspire everyone, including questioning gay teens. Both Gela and I are straight, but believe in equality for all. It was perfect that this was posted today, because it is an Action Hero day at our college. I guess to continue with the theme of gay rights, I will discuss the Supreme Court ruling in the Westboro Baptist Church case. Even though they are clearly spreading a message of hate, these people have free speech protection under the First Amendment. "Speech is powerful. It can stir people to action, move them to tears of both joy and sorrow, and -- as it did here -- inflict great pain. On the facts before us, we cannot react to that pain by punishing the speaker," Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the majority. I completely agree with having the right to express themselves--but there should be clear limitations here. Amazing that America can be called the "land of the free" when people have the RIGHT to protest at military funerals--yet homosexuals still don't have marriage equality, isn't it?
To learn more about the Westboro Baptist Church, check out this documentary by Louis Theroux: The Most Hated Family in America . As much as these people disturb me, I can't help the fact that I am FASCINATED by them. Their lifestyle, their beliefs, their leader, their children. It all just amazes me, how can people have so much hate inside of them? The Westboro Baptist Church also happens to be the subject of my speech for my Intro to Communication class--in case anyone was interested. For those people who are fans of marriage equality, you should check out the lovely Robbie & Allen. They have entered the Ultimate Wedding Contest presented by Crate & Barrel.

Jealous of My Boogie
Honestly, I did not realize that it was Wednesday until I just updated my status saying the Modern Family is new tonight. Gela and I are enjoying our "February Break" this week. In our plethora of spare time, we created a fun dance montage for our friend Mikey, which can be seen above.
We have also been introduced to some new movies. TCM is becoming a new favorite channel, bringing to our viewing pleasure: The Bad Seed, Born Yesterday, The Goodbye Girl, and the end of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? To sum up our favorite movie out of the list, we'll leave you with: "You gimme those shoes, they're my shoes. Give them back to me, you give them back!" Tuesday night we watched the horror classic, Candyman on Showtime. That was a particularly disturbing movie, to say the least.
It's been very slow around here, but March should bring about good weather and trips to Sharon Springs. And speaking of Sharon Springs, Farmer John and Jason have new products in their online store. Items like the new silo door towel hanger (which I will be purchasing) and the hand braided rug.

Let's Go
Gela & DiCaprio present video blog #2--because our days have been less than thrilling. This one is less edited because of the time crunch (aka we didn't record and edit this until late evening) Hopefully you all enjoy seeing our faces. As of now, we are uncertain about Saturday's blog--but we will try to come up with something, even if it's just a quick link, picture, or video.
Take a look at Logo's NewNowNext Awards website. Vote for your favorites! If you don't know about the Fabulous Beekman Boys or just want to learn more about them, check out their website. Make sure to check out TJ Kelly's video about his NewNowNext Award nomination. Remember to take a look at Mikey's Gay Today. And for those of you interested in knowing more about the Llama Rescue and "Llama 99", click here!

Shadow of the Day
*Spoilers*
The major event of this week was going to see "Black Swan" on Tuesday. The special effects in this movie were incredible. DiCaprio and I went to the theater worrying that we were going to be let down. The movie surprised us though, it was really intense and threw us for a loop. We spent the whole next day thinking about what we watched. The critique started with "she was a psycho" to "I think she was a paranoid schizophrenic." It was definitely worth seeing. I feel comfortable speaking for DiCaprio and myself when I say we both highly recommend this movie.
We stumbled across the show "The A-List: New York" on Logo TV. We found the show in December and finally sat down to watch it last week. The show is about a group of gay men in New York City. They are TJ, Ryan, Derek,Austin, Reichen, Rodiney, and Mike. All of these men are passionate about their work, especially Mike, Ryan, and Reichen. While being professionals, these boys know how to have a good time. Our favorite on "The A-List" is without a doubt TJ.
On a random note, DiCaprio and I have only eaten at one dining hall all year. That is until we went to a new hall this week. We went with our friends Tom and Dan. It was delicious, and we might go back once in a while.

Intoxicated?

So Mikey Trahant doesn't know this, but he introduced us to our newest favorite singer. In one of his Gay Today videos he shows his friend Chadwick performing at a club. He is a singer/songwriter and is a mash up of Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert! The clip of him singing intrigued us so we found him on Facebook, went to his website, and subscribed to him on YouTube. Chadwick has a unique and beautiful voice... and he's extremely good looking. :)
As of right now he does not have any shows listed, but his site will be updated. You can also join the mailing list for updates.
The Out Music Awards nominated Chadwick for "OUTstanding Dance/Electro song" for his single "Intoxicated" in 2010. You can find "Intoxicated" and all of his other songs on iTunes. Chadwick also acted in the film POP-U-larity, which is hitting the festival circuit early this year. He even wrote 4 songs for the film! He is amazing so go check him out!!!

Sometime Around Midnight
Gela and myself have had quite a busy week...and it's only Wednesday. Yesterday we had to brave the weather to make it back to college, Gela almost didn't make it because of the terrible weather. No. I'm sorry, the weather was terri-blah! (Thanks Mikey for your word) Today was the first day of college classes. Gela's schedule is comprised of mainly history courses, while my own schedule is an explosion of mass communication courses. This is actually the first moment of relaxation we've had--and we realized we had no plans for a blog. I apologize immensely for the lack of luster and excitement. This is the first in our series of our random blogs. Earlier today we looked at some of the "worst dressed" from the Golden Globes *cough* Tilda Swinton *cough* though there are some that argue the absolute WORST was Julianne Moore.
We are currently catching up on some Patti Luphone videos on YouTube--that's Michael Buckley's phone channel. We watched Zombieland (which is hilarious by the way) and are going to be having a marathon of Gay Today videos. We may even get super crazy and watch The Social Network. Clearly...we are not typical college kids. We are such rebels, we haven't even bought our books yet. That's one of the many tasks scheduled for tomorrow. I ALMOST FORGOT. We are going out to Subway tomorrow for lunch. This is a huge deal because we only eat at ONE dining hall.
Hope you enjoyed this little update....thanks to all of our followers. Hopefully we will have more to talk about in our Saturday blog.

Take A Chance On Me!!!
On an ordinary day, Gela and DiCaprio were checking Facebook. At this fateful time Brent Ridge posted a link to a video. The video was a review of The Fabulous Beekman Boys Holiday Special, posted by Mikey Trahant. It is a hilarious group of people in LA and their reactions while watching. The Boys loved this video so much that they "liked" the video and shared it with everyone. After watching the video, DiCaprio commented about how similar the group's experience of watching the special was to her own. Gela and DiCaprio became obsessed with Mikey's YouTube show: Mikey's Gay Today. At the time, there were around 269 videos (which they finished in about 3 days). There was a YouTube message and friend request sent, followed by Facebook friend requests to a Mr. Mikey Trahant from Gela and DiCaprio. He immediately responded to DiCaprio with "I smell a long friendship ahead of us! I call shotgun on the Beekmans" on Dec. 9 2010. Mikey and the girls instantly became Best Friends Forever! Within days they had nicknames, Michaelangelo, Gela and DiCaprio, and they Skyped almost daily.

Mikey Trahant's current dream is to be "Gaymous" for his YouTube show and to be America's Favorite Gay. The videos are real, entertaining, and at times, full of drama. Mikey's show follows his everyday life and his adventures around LA. He frequently discusses hot guys, searching for a job, and being the "crypt keeper of West Hollywood". He also has "Gaymous Guest Stars" including: Triple Gay, Diva P, KittenKay Sera, the Cranky Cuban, Hula Girl, the Angel of Death, Gaysian, and, of course, America's favorite mom, Cookie! While, most of his videos bring a lot of laughs, he does get serious at times. Our favorite video happens to be his first. He tells a story about when he was a child in Vermont and his friend, Mike Clough, came for a visit. They had a debate as to whether or not a field across the street contained poison ivy. Watch the video here for the outcome. We believe that you should like, favorite, and subscribe to Mikey's videos. You can also find Mikey's videos on Funny or Die. And become a fan on Facebook.
We will have known Mikey for a month tomorrow. We love Mikey and the fact that he is an enigma.
